Never been back to my blog so long since Dec '06 as I had no mood to crawl around and read on the net. I've nothing to write in my notes either. However I'm back, at least for now that I'm sure =P

This morning I just came across an interesting quote on Minn Myat Soe's gtalk status. I thought that might be a title of an interesting book, but found out that was the text from a T-Shirt selling at Neatorama's shop.

"Chicken is the Egg's way to produce more eggs.."
You can’t have an egg without a chicken or a chicken without an egg.
If eggs want to have more eggs, they’d better hurry up and become chickens.

Neatorama has big archives which hold a lot of interesting posts. And I list down some that you would like to read..

Some are their own neat archives and some are link to their finding, but it has interesting and a great links lead to another interesting blogs/sites. Well good to back in reading and start crawling the blog-rolls, that's one reason what I love about Blogs, fast and wide connections.. :)

Zooomr: Photo Sharing

I've learned about Zooomr, a photo sharing site through TechCrunch's article "Zooomr Doubles Flickr’s Monthly Photo Upload Limits".

Since July 2006, they are sending their love to bloggers giving 2.5GB Free Pro Accounts. Now in November, they increased monthly photo upload limits, 4GB per month for Pro Bloggers Account and 100MB per month for General Admission Users. And they are still giving-out free Pro Accounts to Bloggers.

I love DotA

Now it is v6.38 with Four New Recipe Items and One New Hero.

DotA stands for "Defense of the Ancients", it's a free mod for Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. The purpose of the game is to defend your Ancient and try to destroy the opponents Ancient. The ancients are located deep in both bases, which are located at the top right and bottom left corners of the map. There are over 70 heroes that differ greatly in play style. Each of these heroes have been carefully designed so they are both balanced and unique. The map is updated frequently, sometimes to add new heroes, fix bugs or to make a balance update. The strategies possible with DotA are pretty much endless, choosing the wrong item and hero combination can mean the difference between a win and a loss for your team. The gameplay in DotA Allstars can be classified as relatively fast because as the game progresses any small mistake you make can be fatal to the overall team.

Reasons why I am blogging

Now it is 3rd month since I start blogging in August. I created account on blogger in July, but confused and wondered about blogging. I was looking around in blogosphere, visiting friends’ site and asking myself “How” and “Why” are they doing this. May be, at that time I am lame and too shy to do so, expressing myself, writing something online, making it public. So, I was editing my template and just playing with sidebar gadgets. Well now, I truely thanks to my good friend Minn Myat Soe who encouraged me to start whatever on this very own weblog.

After awhile, I started writing about something caught up in my head, some interests, and some stories. But, still no particular goal and, sometime ask myself why I am doing this. Importantly, I was confused about meaning of blogging and searching what I'm standing for. Is it a daily diary? Web journal? Whatever, it seem like a log to me and surely it is as word "blog" is derived from Web Log. So, I wrote a log whatever I want to remember or what I found out interesting. Then, I see some reasons why I am blogging.

Self esteem: most of the time I fear to express what I think or to say something. For now as a blog writer, can’t avoid this, so is force me to do but in appropriate ways. And as an accomplishment I see myself capable and eager to do more. It is become satisfaction.
Further learning: to write something, especially for some reviews or tech news, I need references, sources and knowledge. So, I have to search, explore, and read more to find related resources for my choice of interests.
Improving writing skill: to write, express in any language, skill and vocabulary is required for clear, attractive, and worth-reading post. I’m not a good writer, but that kidda must-do thought make me care to check and improve my spelling, grammar and writing style.
Focusing on something: when time before I blog, most of my spare time are gone with playing games, and become addict. It is bad for my eyes and health, now I can control myself and drive me to interest in technical things and news. So, it is good for health and brain.
Things to be remember: Sometime I see some interesting news or articles while browsing, or heard from somewhere, I never take note and then forget. Now, I have to take notes as some to write in my blog. So, I remember.
Happy playing with gadgets: I love playing with gadgets on my sidebar, I love arranging things and I love to make my template look good. So, I happy finding gadgets, tweaking CSS, and making some graphic.

Well, I feel good knowing myself and what I am doing clearly. Now, I am happy blogging!

Vote for New Seven Wonders

The Seven wonders of the ancient world were;

But only one of them, the Great Pyramids of Giza, still exists today. Now, time to choose new wonders and you can be part of the making of history!

The project began in early 2006 as a list of 200 existing monuments recognized by UNESCO, the only criteria being that only landmarks which were built or discovered before the year 2000 were eligible. By October 2006, the list had been narrowed down to 21 sites from around the world.

Votes can be made online, at www.new7wonders.com organized by a non-profit Swiss foundation which specializes in the preservation, restoration and promotion of monuments, and the results will be announced on July 7, 2007, in Lisbon.

File Synchronization

Recently, I am facing trouble with file copies. I was moving working files and folders around with a USB drive between home and office PCs. Lately, I got confuse which copy is latest and fequently miscopy and overwrite the updated with old version. So, I try to find out how to use File Synchronization like featured on PDA.

So, I found and tried Allway Sync, a directory synchronization tool. It is free but with limitations and that program is branded under several names. Some of the aliases are Good Sync and Syncromat. However, it is with a simple user interface, and can synchronize multiple jobs at once. The folders can be on the local drive, network machine or removable drive, and the differences are shown before the synchronization takes place. You also have the option to exclude selected files or changes the default sync direction. Some reviews said that program analyzes file differences based on true algorithm rather than system clock.

But for now, I am using Windows XP's Briefcase feature, a simplified version of the file synchronizing method which is extremely easy to use. The concept of a digital briefcase which can be moved from computer to computer via floppy or USB drive or on a laptop. It holds copies of files that you put in and allows you to work on these files away from the computer on which they are based. Upon returning the briefcase to the original computer, you can update any files which have been changed. Free wireless broadband access in Singapore

I heard this news from my friend, and quoted from Channel News Asia's article "Free wireless broadband access in Singapore public areas for 2 years"

From January 2007, it will be rolling out wireless broadband Internet in all public spaces, called Wireless@SG, for free, for the first two years.

Premium and higher access speeds will also be immediately available - but this will come at a fee.

Singaporeans will be able to surf all over downtown, major town centres, recreational areas like East Coast Park, and maybe even at libraries and fast food outlets.

Three operators - iCELL network, QMax Communications and SingTel - have been appointed to do this.

They will carve out the island into three areas, and complete their deployment by end-September next year.

Like Meebo, another Ajax based chat service is RadiusIM.

RadiusIM allows users to log in with Yahoo, AIM, Microsoft or GTalk credentials. They also have their own direct IM service, which auto-determines your location and places an icon on a Google map embedded in the site.

RadiusIM similar with Meetro in showing location based users. But, Meetro is a downloaded application, whereas RadiusIM is entirely web based. And, RadiusIM use Google map around the world and seeing which members are located there, whether they are logged in or not, while Meetro only shows users within a stated radius around your current location.

I guess.. you have a gmail account and may be checking with something, but still wanting more such as composing in myanmar font, right?

Gmail lite is written with PHP based on libgmailer class and can be downloaded at SourceForge. So why not grab and upload on a Free PHP supported hosting such as AwardSpace.

To make composable in ZawGyi Unicode font, here is some tips to modify. In your uploaded web folders, in folder "rte", in file "richtext.js", find "function writeRichText(...)", at font options line, add document.writeln('<option value="ZawGyi-One">ZawGyi-One</option>'); then, in main folder, in compose.php, at top of coding, may be 3rd line, find $RTF_Edit = get_rte_status();, mark the line as comment with // and set $RTF_Edit = true, may be like this: $RTF_Edit = true;//get_rte_status();

Vista Packs for your XP/2003

Windows Vista looks really nice with major GUI updates, and I am willing to use in near future. But for now, I am using Windows XP with Vista pack :)

I installed two transformation packs, because there are different features.

The first one is Vista Inspirat from CrystalXP Bricopacks. This pack is not compatible with 64 bit versions (x64) of Windows XP. Before installing, read the instructions page "About BricoPacks". Pack installation will backup your system files for uninstallation purpose which will useful later. That pack will install lovely small programs:

Y'z Shadow which can customize Windows drop shadows
UberIcon that will animate zoom or bounce the icon when you dbl-click on it
ObjectDock, the dock bar on you desktop
iColorFolder which can let you assign different color on folders

The next one is Vista Transformation Pack 5.5 from Window X's Shrine. This pack will replace many of the resources in Windows XP/Windows Server 2003. It can change things as:

Boot screen
Welcome Screen / Logon Screen
New msstyles files (visual styles)
New desktop and file icons
New toolbar icons

Flashbag: Inflatable flash drive

Flashbag currently is a design concept of an USB flash drive by Russian designer Dima Komissarov, inviting producing and production companies to take participation in his project.

The size of the device changes depending on the amount of data it holds.

When the device is about to blow up you will see the familiar error message on your screen: "There is not enough free space".

When swithched off the flashbag remains pumped up, so you can estimate with the naked eye how much more pics, books and music albums can be transferred into it.

Dwarf planet 2003 UB313 nicknamed Xena is now to be known as Eris and its moon is named Dysnomia.

The dwarf planet formerly known as 2003 UB 313 received the official designation (136199) Eris, or Eris in short, from the International Astronomical Union on 13 September 2006. The name was accepted almost unanimously by the Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN) and the Committee for Small Body Nomenclature (CSBN).

The name Eris was proposed by the discovery team. (136199) Eris was discovered 5 January 2005, from data obtained on 21 October 2003 by M. E. Brown, C. A. Trujillo, and D. Rabinowitz at the Palomar Observatory.

Eris is a the Greek goddess of discord and strife. She stirs up jealousy and envy to cause fighting and anger among men. At the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, the parents of the Greek hero Achilles, all the gods with the exception of Eris were invited, and, enraged at her exclusion, she spitefully caused a quarrel among the goddesses that led to the Trojan war.

Dysnomia is the Daimon spirit of lawlessness. She is the daughter of Eris, goddess of chaos and strife, and the counterpart to Eunomia who puts an end to the anger of grievous strife.

The name was proposed by Mike Brown ( Caltech, USA) on behalf of the discovery team.

The new designations have been approved by the IAU Division III Organizing Committee and by the IAU Officers and have been announced in IAU Circular 8747 13 September 2006.

Phixr comes handy to edit your photo, if you are at internet cafe, school or company where computer doesn't have any image editor installed and may be users are not permitted to install software.

"The phixr.com web service was created to accommodate digital photographers when they do not have access to their picture editing software like when travelling, on school or office computers or at internet cafes. Phixr.com offers its users a full palette of interactive tools to easily manipulate photo files without having to download or install software. The only requirement is a web browser."

What you need to do is upload a photo to phixr, edit your photo, save your changes, then e-mail photo, or upload to flickr, fotopic, livejournal, photobucket, fotolog.com, buzznet, dropshots.

Photos you upload to phixr can be of any size. However, phixr will scale down big photos to a smaller size, depending on your account's limit. The free account is currently limited to 1.3 megapixels, which means that the size of your photos cannot exceed approximately 1280x1024 (or any other width/height within the limit of 1.3 megapixels). Phixr is only for editing photos, not a photo gallery application. So, there is no point in storing your photos forever. They remove your photo from their server if a certain time has gone since you last edited on time period. For the free account, the time-out is three hours.

I browsed SciFi.com and see what is webisode after reading "Sci Fi Creates ‘Webisodes’ to Lure Viewers to TV" from The New Yoke Times.

The 10 Web segments, each just a few minutes long and viewable on devices ranging from iPods to laptops to desktops to full-size television sets, feature characters from the television show. And they have the same dark feel of broadcast episodes of “Galactica,” a post-apocalyptic survival tale of humans on the run after their home planets have been destroyed.

There, in SciFi Pulse, I see series and movies with "play video" buttons. I tried to watch "Battlestar Galatica: The Resistance", the one which tvsquad is talking about, but a message said I can't see the clip as it is not avilable from my location. So guyz! honestly, I don't know good or bad or what it is, just go and check it yourself :)

The Graduate Diploma in Systems Analysis programme is designed for non-IT graduates who recognise the need to equip themselves with the latest IT knowledge and skills, and wish to advance their careers in their current field. It also provides an opportunity for non-IT graduates in crafting a new career path in the IT industry.

In this eleven-month FULL-TIME programme, students are taught how to built IT solutions through lectures, workshops, laboratory sessions, projects and industrial attachments. Students will also learn and practise the techniques taught to gather user requirements, systematically analyse and design feasible solutions; they will then move on to code, test and implement these solutions. A Nuclear War: September 12, 2006?

According to interpretation of Biblical Prophecy by Overseer Yisrayl Hawkins from the house of Yaweh in Abilene, Texas, a nuclear war will break out and eventually lead to the involvement of all nations. He said -

These wars will intensify in the thirteen months that remain after the initial war prophesied for September 12, 2006, until the final burning blast that darkens the sun.

On his website, Mr. Yisrayl Hawkins said about amazing prophecies showing the exact date when nuclear war will start and where. He said "A nuclear war September 12, 2006, mark it on your bathroom mirror".

IAU vote result: only 8 planets

Issue about howmany planets rised as 12, but end up as eight in the Solar System only consists of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Pluto is been demoted from its planetary status, and now officially member of "dwarf planets", the new category of TNOs, along with Xena and Ceres. Further more, IAU recognized Pluto as the prototype of new category.

24th August, Thursday in Prague during the closing ceremony of the 26th General Assembly of the IAU, astronomers voted on resolution for planet definition. Here I quoted from IAU 2006 General Assembly: Result of the IAU Resolution votes;

The IAU members gathered at the 2006 General Assembly agreed that a "planet" is defined as a celestial body that (a) is in orbit around the Sun, (b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape, and (c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit.

This means that the Solar System consists of eight "planets" Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. A new distinct class of objects called "dwarf planets" was also decided. It was agreed that "planets" and "dwarf planets" are two distinct classes of objects. The first members of the "dwarf planet" category are Ceres, Pluto and 2003 UB313 (temporary name). More "dwarf planets" are expected to be announced by the IAU in the coming months and years. Currently a dozen candidate "dwarf planets" are listed on IAU's "dwarf planet" watchlist, which keeps changing as new objects are found and the physics of the existing candidates becomes better known.

Rambo in Burma?

Again, another Burma-in-movie might be coming, but this time is about single hero, over-rated killing machine, super Rambo's unbelievable mission. The last time in movie was Stealth with couple of scenes that an artificial intelligence-based UCAV, so-called high-tech craft nicknamed "EDI" flew over Rangoon, droping a drill headed rocket over a tall tower. (what I saw in movie was a map with 3d visualization of two tall buildings face to face across the road, scene of crowded downtown area, sort of..)

This afternoon, when I was surfing around myanmar blogs, and reach Diary of Lwin Moe, there was an intresting topic "Rambo in Burma". So, I followed up through the link he provided, and reach "The Sun Online - Bizarre online: Sly's plot for Rambo 4", an article about Sylvester Stallone's phone interview with Soldier of Fortune magazine.

Stallone outlined the plot, saying..

Vietnam war vet Rambo was now living a monastic lifestyle in Bangkok and salvaging old boats and tanks for scrap metal. When a group of volunteers bringing supplies into Burma disappears, a relative of one of the missing missionaries begs Rambo to find them. He heads off with a team of young guns to get the job done.

Well friends, I just "Oh-oh" and don't know what to say. So I will listen :)

Making excerpt of post in Blogger

This post is an extension of Blogger Help's How can I create expandable post summaries? As in Blogger Help:

With this trick, you can choose to display an arbitrary amount of text from the beginning of each post, as a teaser for the whole thing. Then users who want to read the rest of the post can click a link to see the full text. This is handy if you have lots of long articles all on one page. Note that you'll need to have post pages enabled in order to make this feature work.

Before we go further, you should read original topic from Blogger help to know how it is work.

We will use same trick described as in Blogger Help, using Conditional Tags. Add following declaration in your <STYLE> .. </STYLE> block.

The Onyx: Synaptics' Next-Gen Phone Concept

Touch screen developer Synaptics, in partnership with industrial design studio Pilotfish, produced the design of the next-generation phone concept, Onyx.

The Onyx concept is purely a concept platform designed to encourage discussion within the mobile community. Onyx will not be launched by Synaptics or any mobile phone OEMs. The enabling capacitive ClearPad technology is expected to be productized and available to OEMs by the end of the year.

According to engadget's review "The Onyx - Synaptics' ClearPad concept phone",

Onyx lets you do stuff like close an app by drawing an "X" over it with your finger, send messages by swiping them off the screen, and answer a call simply by placing the phone against your cheek.

iTWire said more in their article, "Press your lips to your cellphone, send your lover a kiss",

They suggest that their 'concept device', dubbed Onyx, will enable cellphone manufacturers to "visualise a fundamentally new form of user interface for mobile phones."

For example, a phone using the technology could, they say, recognise rough shapes and be capable of sending "an emoticon style kiss message" in which the recipient would see an image of the sender's lips kissing the phone!

My First Blogging Award: SOB

This morning, after one and half day of absent from my blogger console, when I checking on Stats to know who visited, then I saw a referer link "Thanks to Week 43 SOBs". So, I checked out what is that, and my heart exploded out as I saw there was my blog, awarded by Successful Blog .

It is with great dignity and pride that I announce and present the official badge of achievement of SOB to all who earned the right to call themselves Successful and Outstanding Bloggers.

They take the conversation to their readers, contribute great ideas, challenge us, make us better, and make our businesses stronger. I thank every one of our SOBs for thinking what we say is worth passing on. Good conversation shared can only improve the blogging community.

Well, I don't know what to say, but as encouragement, am so modivated to go forward with what I started. Anyway, great honor and thanks to Liz.

When the SOB program started, I was looking for a way to encourage the sense of community that Successful-Blog stood for. The conversations were fun, fast, and sometimes irreverent. Discussions on the blog often brought up good ideas, and I wanted to make sure those ideas continued and become more out in the blogosphere–everyone making everyone a little bit better. 12 Planets?

As I said in "Howmany planets in our Solar System?", topic about debates on planet Pluto and introducing Xena(UB313), astronomers try to get consensus on defination of planet. Now the time drawing to final line-up is coming on next week, probably Thursday, 24th Aug, when 2500 world renowned astronomers vote on this issue at the International Astronomical Union (IAU), General Assembly 14-25 August 2006, in Prague.

But, rather than 10, there would be 12, which means, Xena plus two more planets could be officially added to our solar system. Pluto's compainon Charon(the moon), big asteroid Ceres(dwarf planet) and 2003-UB313(Xena) would be new members of our Solar System, as in name of "plutons". Pluto also will be categorized in pluton group.

Will Mars look as large as Moon on Aug, 27th?

Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August. It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will cultimate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of Earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am. It will look like The Earth has 2 Moons. Don't Miss it..... The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. NOTE: Share this with ur friends as NO ONE ALIVE TODAY will ever see it again.

Recently, I got forwarded mails from friends about Mars will bigger and brighter, as large as full Moon on Aug 27, 12:30am. So I amazed like "Wow! Is it possible? If so, I have to awake and wait up that night", and then, start googling about the day of two Moons.

So, I found out these;

The Big Mars Hoax by Paul Rogers from Astronomical Society of South Australia

Strangely enough, they are variations of original authentic emails generated in 2003 when Mars did in fact make one of its closest approaches to Earth in a very long time. But even then, Mars was still a long long way from Earth. In August 2003, if you observed Mars through a good telescope using at least 75x magnification – then Mars could look the same apparent size (in the telescope's eyepiece view) as the full Moon could look to the naked eye view.

This information has been doctored and recycled each August since 2003 and is now completely out of date.

HERE WE GO AGAIN! Every August for the last three years, these crazy emails have started floating around, and people who simply don't know the difference just send them on to their circle of friends without ever trying to learn whether it's the truth they're sending, or whether its just more BOGUS EMAILS.

How can people be so easily conned into thinking that Mars could EVER be seen as big as the Moon? It boggles my mind that anyone could do this, but sadly it's true. I have received essentially this same email 20 or more times in the last two years. It comes from friends and strangers alike. Those friends that understand that this is bogus laugh along with me, and those that don't know the difference we try our best to help them understand the truth about what's really happening.

So, when you receive that kindda mail, reply to your friend and ask to check out the two articles sources above I quoted.

Blogging Tips from Bloke and Liz

I've learned some blogging tips from "Bloke's Tips for a Successful Blog: Part 1" and "Bloke's Tips for a Successful Blog: Part 11".

Much has been said about what makes a blog successful . Not one to mince words I've decided to cut through all the hoopla and sum it up with the following tips (this is a work in progress). If you follow these diligently your blog can't help but be successful:

I don't know yet about his advices will work on mine. But, I'm aware of my blog situation as in his "10 Reasons Why I Don't Like Your Blog", may be;

3. I ran out of patience waiting because your blog takes forever to load or is slow to respond to my mouse clicks. Answer: Get rid of some of those javascripts running in the background, that silly flash intro, or trim some weight off those graphics that take forever to load and way too much bandwidth. And while you're at it get rid of those old school HTML tables. Make the switch over to CSS stylesheets. It will be time worth spent.

5. I won't leave a comment on your blog because your posts sound too authoritative, are too boring, too argumentative, you force me to login, you never responded to my previous comments, or you shot me down the last time that I offered a different opinion. Shall I continue (as I pause to catch my breath)? Answer: Learn to write in a style that is non-confrontational, lively and conversational. Don't be an arrogant know-it-all and write to entertain, not drain. Above all, make it easy to leave comments, be courteous and try to respond to commentors that took the time to write. Cultivating a community spirit will do wonders for increasing your traffic.

And the most sadiest thing, according to StatCounter stats, I seen many passed my blog and forward, stay not more than 5sec, and no one seem liking to drop comment, so I read Liz's Successful Blog about "10 Reasons Readers Don’t Leave Comments";

What you write is so complete, that I don’t know what to say except good job. I feel silly writing that, so I read and move on.
You’ve taught me something I didn’t know, and I need to think about it before I even have a question. Much like number 1, I don’t want to embarrass myself. I’m better off moving on.
I get ready to type a comment, but I notice you only respond to a few friends who mostly share inside jokes. I won’t take the risk of being overlooked in public.
The folks who comment on your posts like to argue and I don’t. I’m not sure I’m brave enough to fight my way into the crowd.
You rarely respond to comments. So, there’s no point in writing one.
Your blog has geeky attitude and I’m not geeky enough to keep up. .
I really like your blog and your post, but I’m too tired, busy, or any one of a number things that you can’t control. I’ll comment the next I come back to read.
You end your posts with a giant general question like “What do you think of the Big Bang Theory?” That question is such a big one. I don’t have time to answer it. I feel strange answering with a lesser comment.
You put up a fence by making me login to comment. I have too many passwords already and I don’t know you well enough to add one to my list.
Your content wasn’t fresh and exciting, and I couldn’t find anything YOU inside it. It seemed the same post that I’ve read on 10 other blogs. If I commented, I would have to tell you that. PLUS ONE: Your post was negative. Negative is scary. Most folks don’t like negative stuff, because they know they could be next to be the recipient. I don’t comment, because I don’t want to be part of it.

So, let me know your reason, what could that be? :)

WEB2DNA

I remeber reading "Graphifying Mayvelous" and Nyi Lynn Seck's introduction about "Websites as Graphs" a visualization project made by Marcel Salathe.

Again, WEB2DNA, another project by Thomas Baekdal, will convert your website into DNA art. As he said in his intro article, it is inspired by two particulars;

DNA11: A company that, with a sample of your blood, turns your DNA into works of art which is really neat but expensive concept.

And, yes;

Websites as Graphs: A cool web app that displays you website as a graph (or actually a serious of dots connected to each other). This too is a really neat and fun concept that is very inexpensive (it is free).

How it works

WEB2DNA will take you website, analyze it, crunch it to little bits and spit it out as a graphic representation of a human DNA.

The brightness of the lines is determined by the importance of the tags in terms of structure.
H1 is brighter than H2, which is brighter than H3.
TABLE is brighter than TR, which is brighter than TD tags.
Images and flash elements appear as 70% white.
New HTML tags like STRONG and EM is brighter than older ones like B and I
UL, OL and DL is brighter than their LI, DT, DD
DIV layout is brighter than table layout
Basically a semantically rich site will appear brighter than one with messy old-style code.

You can also determine the richness of text on a site. A site the focuses on (text) content is one where the DNA patterns is large (filling many containers), but contains a lot of empty spaces between the lines (empty space is the individual words).

meebo me widget!

I found this intresting service called "meebo me", through live-journal of Diabolic Preacher.

You know meebo, right? Web-based IM that allows users to access AOL, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber or Gtalk. It is ajax-rich web-based client which can use from any computer with a web browser. And, now they added a new service which is a Flash-based chat widget that Meebo users can place on a website. "Meebo Me" is a one-on-one communication between a website owner and a visitor. Read review from Techcrunch or meebo's blog.

Here is how meebome works, which I quoted from businesswire;

Howmany planets in our Solar System?

There are debates about the ninth and smallest of the traditional planets of the Solar system. Is Pluto a Planet or Not? If it is not, we got only 8. But, after "The discovery of 2003 UB313, the 10th planet", it become 10. UB313, Xena is even larger then Pluto, and has moon called Gabrielle. So? 8 or 10?

Understanding Selectors in CSS

When you are working with CSS, it is value to know about selectors and their precedents. In a CSS declaration format p{color:black;} 'p' is selector, 'color' is property, and 'black' is value. Declaration should be in curly bracket {}, property and value to assigned is sperated with colum ':', and has to be terminated with semicolum ';' when you are assigning more than one property.

I assume that you already how to write declaration in <STYLE TYPE="text/css"> .. </STYLE> between <HEAD> .. </HEAD>.

There are selector types which are..

Element Selectors, simple HTML elements such as h1, h2, p, body..

Contextual Selectors, also HTML elements but depending to hierarchy and inheritance, for example ul li {color:green;} and ol li {color:gray} are not same, because the first li is descendant of ul and second li is decendant of ol.

Class Selectors, declaring as class .error {color:red;} and then refering in HTML tag with class value, for example: <p class="error"> This is error. </p>. Class Selectors are declared with '.'

ID Selectors, with HTML ID attribute, elements can assigned with sperated identies, and also different styles. For example: <p id="mytext"> text are here </p> and declaration as #mytext { font-family: fontname;} will display text between p tag of indicated id with assigned font. ID Selectors are declared with #.

Pseudo-class and Pseudo-element Selectors, some HTML elements have pseudo elements such as anchor tag <a>, and its pseudo as a:visited, a:hover. You can assign pseudo-element with style. a {color:blue;} and a:hover {color:red;} will change color blue to red when you hover on a linked text.

Knowing precedent of styles are import to overcome conflict amongs nested declaration or when you are using external Style Sheets. In a HTML document, elements are tree shaped and cascade ordered, which means parent element inherit on its descendant. Contexttual Selector effects depanding on that structure. For example:

     text
  </p>
</div>

In this block, if you didn't assign style to <p>, style from 'div-class' will effect on text.

As the rule of specificity values, Element Selectors are smallest weighted, then Class and Psuedo-class Selectors, the highest are ID Selectors. But, you can overruled declaring !Important, e.g: .error {color:red !important;}

It doesn't verify whether you're the original creator of the content.
It does not care to notice that you're attributing the author and providing a link back to the main story.
It literally searches the entire site.... even the links like Login, Search, Update Journal, Reply to Comments.
It doesn't avoid insulting the Creative Commons license by allowng some jerks to have a CC license on their page... plagiarized content on their own page and the bowels to put up a "don't copy... this site is being watched by copyscape" banner.
The basic version shows just 3 results.... i know one who can't afford such a stupid service won't have much moolah to sue more than 3 webmasters. However what is worse is that out of the 3... atleast 1 is often likely to have your content already removed but copyscape will still complain coz it sees the 'plagiarised' content in it's cache.
So you see even if you're a valid original author n stuff... Copyscape doesn't help much.... it's a lame excuse of a full-text search engine.

Script to add font style in posts

After awhile of browsing, I realized most of myanmar bloggers use Firefox, and, as some how Firefox's functionality provide ZawGyi Unicode to be seen without acknowledging font style, they sometime forget to add style assignment for myanmar text which is only squares when reader is using IE.

My advice is to warp with <span style="font-family:ZawGyi-One">...</span> around myanmar text in post, or assign font style for tag which wapping the post body in template style declaration. But, both have their disadvantages, which is the first one to remember doing so in each time posting in myanmar, while the second one effecting on font style of all text in post body.

And, here comes idea of using a bb-code-alike tag [zawgyi]...[/zawgyi], or [myan]...[/myan], whatever..., and I will use [mm]...[/mm] for example.

First of all, add this javascript in <HEAD>...</HEAD>

Then, you have to warp your post body and assign with id. I used <span> class and "postwrapper" as id in this example <span id="postwrapper"><$BlogItemBody></span>. When you create a post you just add [mm]...[/mm] around myanmar text and script will find and replace [mm] with <span style="font-family:ZawGyi-One"> and [/mm] with </span> as the function was called upon "window.onload" event.

After dizzly works of 3 days, template successfully changed and I hope it's still clean and nice as previous one. Ok, bluffing enough, and let me say some credits to original designers. Actually original theme is a wordpress theme titled as "Japanese Cherry Blossom" designed by April D. Spreeman, which was modified from "Hemingway", another wordpress theme from warpspire.

There is also another "Hemingway", ready to use theme for blogger at tabo @ aureal, more neat and tidier template.

Using Blogger Template Tags

When you try to change your Blogger template, you will see template tags, such as <$BlogTitle$>, <$BlogDescription$>, or blocks as <blogger></blogger>. These tags are for Blogger to know where to insert meta, contents and profiles. Those were mostly left alone when we try to makeup our blog themes as usual, we don't learned and know how those work actually.

But, it is worth to learn how they can applied to get a different looks rather than a flat listed page. For example, you can make different style between main page and item page with conditional tags and contents between these blocks will only show on indicated page:

Tiny fish from Myanmar

Aquarists at the Bolton Museum, Art Gallery and Aquarium have become the world's first to spawn one of the world's tiniest fish species - the miniscule Danionella translucida.

The tiny transparent cyprinid Danionella comes from Myanmar (formerly Burma) and has never been bred in captivity before. It reaches just 12mm in length, with females topping-out at around a centimetre, making it one of the world's smallest freshwater fish species.

The species is so small and delicate that it is rarely exported and has been kept by very few fishkeepers around the world. Very little is known about the biology of the species as it is too small for scientists to study in the wild.

Smallest fish is from Sumatra, according to The Star Online's news.

The world’s tiniest fish which is the size of a mosquito was rediscovered by chance almost a decade after it was preserved and kept at the Raffles Museum in Singapore.

Since the specimen measuring 7.9mm was caught in a Sumatra peat swamp in 1995, the tiny fish has never been thoroughly analysed.

W3C Validation Services

I saw this icon on many sites and wonder what it is.

When I click image link on a site, and then, reach to W3C Markup Validation Service and I see the validated result of that site. So, I validate my blog, but get tons of error on return. Now I know my blog need alot of relocations and modification to correct format on HTML tags.

Another validator is CSS Validator for Cascading Style Sheets.

You may also want to test validity of your site's makeup and Style Sheets.

WiFi in a Laundry Machine

The Internet Home Alliance, the connected home research group launched a trial program to bring the washing machine of 21st century called Laundry Time system. Participating companies on each contributions to the Laundry Time pilot are Whirlpool Corporation, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Panasonic, and Procter & Gamble, the same group that tried to create the wired kitchen several years ago.

Laundry Time is a system that links a washer and dryer to a home network and sends text messages about the laundry's progress to a computer, TV and/or cell phone which enables consumers to manage the laundry process from remote locations such as a grocery store or soccer game, freeing them up to go about their day rather than forcing them to stay home to manage the process.

As I read in Business Wire's articles;

Here are a few examples of how Laundry Time will work:
You decide to do your laundry while the family is watching TV. After you start the washer (the system will allow you to implement the process remotely), you relax in front of the TV. Thirty minutes later, an alert pops up on your TV screen saying, "Wash Complete," so you put the load in the dryer and put another load in the washer. You get a similar alert on your TV when the dryer is done, so you never forget about your laundry and can fold your clothes before they get wrinkled.
You settle down to do some Web surfing after a busy day. When you start up your browser, you get an Instant Message alert telling you that the dryer did not start its cycle. You realize that you forgot to press the start button. Laundry Time asks you in the IM whether you would like to start the cycle. With your mouse, you select "yes," which starts the dryer, and you continue Web surfing without interruption.
While running errands, you get an alert on your cell phone that the dryer is done. You don't want your clothes to sit in the dryer and wrinkle so you use a key on your cell phone to tell the dryer to "fluff" the load for an additional 15 minutes, the time it will take you to finish your errands and return home.

So, when the time comes, buy one, turn on your WiFi, then relex, the rest is in machine's hand, I guess.

Font Embedding တစ္မ်ိဳးလို႕ ေျပာရမွာပါ.. စာအမ်ားႀကီးကို မဟုတ္ပဲ ေခါင္းစဥ္ေလာက္ အနည္းအက်ဥ္းကို ေျပာင္းဖို႕ အတြက္ပဲျဖစ္ပါတယ္.. လက္ရိွ version က 2.0 ပါတဲ့..

The following explains the sIFR process:
A page is requested and loaded.
Javascript detects if Flash 6 or greater is installed.
If no Flash is detected, the page is drawn as normal.
If Flash is detected, the HTML element of the page is immediately given the class “hasFlash”. This effectively hides all text areas to be replaced but keeps their bounds intact. The text is hidden because of a style in the stylesheet which only applies to elements that are children of the html.hasFlash element.
The javascript traverses through the DOM and finds all elements to be replaced. Once found, the script measures the offsetWidth and offsetHeight of the element and replaces it with a Flash movie of the same dimensions.
The Flash movie, knowing its textual content, creates a dynamic text field and renders the text at a very large size (96pt).
The Flash movie reduces the point size of the text until it all fits within the overall size of the movie.

ZawGyi Myanmar Unicode

In this blog, ZawGyi-One (Zawgyi Myanmar Unicode Font) is used for Myanmar language text. It is released as a beta by the Zawgyi group and Alpha Mandalay, license and further information is not yet available.

It is a True Type font, just copy and paste to your \System\Fonts folder on Windows 2000/XP. But for further usage as composing need Keyboard to be installed and you can download .zip file and extract it, then install with ZawgyiKb.msi but you still need steps to follow up.

Which are:-

> Control panel > Reginal and Language Options
> In Language, Click "Details"
> Text Services and Input Languages dialog box appeared
> Click "Add.."
> Another dialog box "Add Input Language" appeared
> Leave Input Language same as it is
> Tick on checkbox "Keyboard layout/IME"
> select Zawgyi Myanmar Unicode Keyboard in listed combo
> Then click OK > OK > OK
> Now, you can choose keyboard in Language bar.
